Miyazaki Area Guide | Futo Beach - Miyazaki's Most Beautiful Swimming Beaches
A slice of paradise surrounded by nature
Futo beach is located along Miyazaki’s most scenic coastal drive, Route 220. A quiet little beach town that really comes alive during the Summer season.
Although you can swim here all year round, you will not see anybody in the water until the 1st of July. This marks the start of the official swimming season here as the town sets up an opening ceremony with a local Shinto priest to bless the water.
Swimming season is from the 1st of July until the end of August. The difference between the official swimming season and the off season is that all the little beach cafes are open and a team of life savers patrol the beach.

These kind of road stations are all over Japan and a great place to stop for snacks and local fresh produce. Here you will find the Rice terraces and waterfall.
